  1. Sorry to disagree, but I’m with GG on this one. The only thing Menino’s “stand” (and Rahm’s) means is that they’re bigger assholes than Cathy.

  2. Yeah Adams, you’re so right—bigotry and segregation are wonderful things to have within your business communities, especially if you’re living in the pre-civil rights era. Cathy’s old man is probably rolling over in his grave knowing that his son broke a major rule of business in the 21st century: never, ever, involve politics and social issues with your business; no doubt you’ll turn away customers.

Besides, your comments would seem to indicate you oughta’ be commenting on Drudges site or one of the other fringe right sites.

  3. Maybe you have misunderappreciated my remarks?

    Glenzilla says:

“If you support what Emanuel is doing here, then you should be equally supportive of a Mayor in Texas or a Governor in Idaho who blocks businesses from opening if they are run by those who support same-sex marriage — or who oppose American wars, or who support reproductive rights, or who favor single-payer health care, or which donates to LGBT groups and Planned Parenthood, on the ground that such views are offensive to Christian or conservative residents. You can’t cheer when political officials punish the expression of views you dislike and then expect to be taken seriously when you wrap yourself in the banner of free speech in order to protest state punishment of views you like and share. Free speech rights means that government officials are barred from creating lists of approved and disapproved political ideas and then using the power of the state to enforce those preferences.”

  4. I wasn’t aware that I “misunderappreciated” your remarks, Adam. What I referenced was what Cathy, the younger, said about the LGBT community, which in my view is segregationist and bigoted. His remarks were a good stretch away from war or abortion issues. But, I support his right to say whatever he wishes, his business be damned!

  5. Clearly we agree about his statement being bigoted and his business being damned.
