COLUMBUS, Ohio — A top adviser to Ohio Gov. John Kasich has come under fire for a statement critics say was racist and aimed at suppressing the vote of African-Americans.
The comments from Doug Preisse, the Franklin County Republican chairman, were yet another salvo in the ongoing battle between Ohio Democrats and Republicans over early voting hours. Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted last week issued a directive that excludes weekend voting, which Democrats say was politically motivated.
Preisse told the Columbus Dispatch in a story published Sunday: “I guess I really actually feel we shouldn’t contort the voting process to accommodate the urban — read African-American — voter turnout machine.”
Speaking of subtle. America’s head religious fascist and misogynist, Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and chief racist and warmonger in Israel, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, both bared their fangs yesterday. Dolan will be legitimizing cultists Romney and fellow Opus Dei member Ryan at next weeks Republican Party convention. Lieberman demanded that the international community recognize the legitimate rights of the Zionists to permanently occupy the West Bank through settlements and to own in perpetuity the whole of Jerusalem. So much for the facade of wanting only Peace and Freedom for all mankind.
Many of us lived through the old days when the Crow was legally alive. But, back then he was mostly legal and recognized as such only in the South. Now, he’s being codified into law all over the country. I suppose having a black president will bring those old ideas back into the light.
