Crazy

I’m afraid we’re eventually going to see a civil war between the crazy people with weapons – and the rest of us:

LUDOWICI, Georgia — Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group composed of active duty and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components and was serious enough to kill two people — former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York — by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

“This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk,” prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. “Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans.”

One of the Fort Stewart soldiers charged in the case, Army Pfc. Michael Burnett, also gave testimony that backed up many of the assertions made by prosecutors. The 26-year-old soldier pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter, illegal gang activity and other charges. He made a deal to cooperate with prosecutors in their case against the three other soldiers.

  1. The Atlantic Wire links to Reuters who says that one of the leaders, Isaac Aguigui, was probably a page at the 2008 Republican Nominating Convention.

Taking down the government and assassinating Obama were part of their very big plans.

  2. The wingnuts are gearing up for a “race war” as soon as a verdict is decided in the Trayvon Martin case. It is talked about openly and it won’t matter what the verdict…….

I am near Fort Stewart in Savannah, right now, and hearing ads on the radio from gun shops for folks to stock up on ammo this election season. “Last Presidential season there was a shortage of ammo, don’t get caught unprepared.” No joke. Followed by music by Taylor Swift.

  3. Well Boo, I’ll tell you this: I live in the close suburbs of Atlanta and I don’t believe there are very many folks around here who give a damn. I mean, yep, there are all sorts of folks carrying in public—-apparently licensed to do so—but the homeowners and crooks are keeping their shit hidden——but, I’m not in either of those crowds. 🙂

  4. You are very much right about Atlanta. We know, also, the prevailing view regarding Atlanta by folks from the rest of the state, tee hee! A lot of the nuts are afraid to come to Atlanta and it ain’t just the traffic! The prayers of Sherman’s return… 🙂
And, yes, a lot of it is bluster. It’s just getter more vocal…..
