Do you suspect that there might just be some sort of conspiracy behind all of this? Remember the top 2% owns 40% of our collective wealth. The bottom 20% owns nothing. That’s 0, nada, zilch. The 5 Walton, Walmart, children own as much wealth as the bottom 120 million Americans do put together. No conspiracy in all of this? If ‘you’ believe that there’s no conspiracy then ‘you’re’ not paying attention.

The scope of this destitution is prone to be vastly worse. Every one of the indices cited in the article is necessarily the product of self reporting. People will understate to avoid the appearance of profligacy. Just like we’re all “middle class”.

This from the IRS site where I went to see about free e-fiing my tax return and was directed to a site that filed my federal tax return for free but charged 14.95 to e-file my state return: “Did you know that approximately 70% of all taxpayers have an AGI of $57,000 or less?”

Yeah, we’re all a buch of broke muthafrackers.
Half of us earn less than $35K before taxes.
USA number one? I dunna fuquing think so.

Never attribute to conspiracy what can be explained by simple greed.

Greed and conspiracy are not mutually exclusive.
Indeed, they go very well together.
