It’s not really about the money in politics. It’s about who has the money that is being spent in politics. When the 1%—right wing Capitalists all—own 40% of our total wealth then there is no way that we’re—the 99%—-not going to get screwed. So here’s the question: how do we get our wealth back? There are only a few solutions: 1. Limit income by using the tax system. 2. Equalize wealth by using the tax system. Progressive taxation was invented to assist the 99% in becoming full participants in the democratic process. In other words to be able to compete with the rich on a more level playing field.
