Once upon a time at another site, where they gave numeral evaluations of comments to reflect “yes, I like that/agree with that” or “no, I don’t” – another commenter and myself got really downgraded by another person for speculating that when the Great Collapse truly sets in – we will see instances of cannibalism here and there in response.

    When faced with extreme food shortages, people will do desperate things and resort to acts they would not contemplate in better times.

  2. The first settlers came over the Bering Straits. During the recorded history of (Northern) Native American culture, cannibalism is icky, taboo, and spiritually degrading. In other words, the exclusive province of white people. But there is evidence of cannibalism in pre-Columbian times. Mayans and Aztecs were cats of a different color, however.
