The free market Capitalists (1%) did not want nor were they going to accept a single-payer, universal health care system. Which is what Medicare at 55 would have been. So they instructed their bought and paid for politicians to make certain that it did not happen. Obama, Pelosi, et all performed as the 1% expected that they would.
