This info just ran on one of the HistoDiscoverGeorgraphic channels, saying that these civilizations were not limited to Central and South America — and it traced them here in various places in this country.
It was actually well done, I just can’t recall which channel, which show. It was over the winter, though.

There may have been some trading a small migrations from Meso America, but, Georgia has several Native American sites of mound building people.
