So Assad has agreed to send negotiators to peace talks and it’s the rebels who refuse to attend — probably because they’re trying to draw the U.S. into the war on their side.

The rebels have always refused to attend peace talks. From day one. They have had one demand and only one demand, “Assad must go.” How do you enter into peace talks with somebody that irrational? You can’t. Just ask any Palestinian.
