Abortion on teevee

I saw this Roseanne episode yesterday, and it reminded me again how rarely we talk about abortion on teevee these days. I mean, there’s an occasional mention (usually in the context of the “bad” girl) and very little discussion of options and roadblocks.

Isn’t that bizarre?

It’s as if the entire Hollywood “liberal” community decided to pretend this isn’t an issue anymore. That it’s somewhat legal (even if you have to jump through hoops and do handstands to get one), so what’s the big deal?

Even progressive men avoid the subject, especially late-term abortion. Which is done for extreme medical reasons, but is icky, so…

And politicians let it happen. Remember when Democrats fought for things? Yeah, just kidding.

  1. Only one I’ve seen in recent memory was last season on Parenthood. Seemed the boy was more affected by it than his girlfriend. Thought it was an interesting approach.

  2. Hollywood is too busy feeling vastly progressive because they’re against racism and homophobia (in politics, not so much in Wilshire Blvd real estate) to get cooties from wimmenz ishoos.
