This song was very popular among the mothers for peace movement in Northern Ireland. It always baffled me that somewhere, in 1991, some PR hack decided this Julie Gold song would be a perfect theme song for the first Iraq invasion. It was played everywhere, and I know Nanci Griffith was baffled and disturbed by the whole thing:
