I remember when I posted this over at the other place, the comments section had a lot of people angrily accusing me of making it up, that there was no way that many women get raped or molested.
I thought of them when I read this. Look how many people in one jury pool were affected by rape or other sex crimes.
Way back when, long ago and far away, I went through a time when for some reason the topic of rape came up among my friends and me.
Of the six women with whom I discussed it during a period of a few months, every single one had been raped by some man. Every. single. one. Not one had reported it.
I stopped getting near the subject with people. I’m sure nothing has changed.
But that was when I understood that the pressures protecting the perps are there because rape is essential to keep women down. Without it, our society wouldn’t trundle along in its familiar and criminal groove.
