Of missing persons

I got to hang out yesterday with an old friend I haven’t seen in a while, and he informed me that a mutual acquaintance (a newspaper editor we both knew, someone who was married to a friend) has been missing for a year. His car was found parked near the Golden Gate bridge and it’s assumed he jumped off. He left behind a little girl from a previous marriage.

I’ll say this: He had his personal problems, but he was a very, very good editor and cared very much about his work — probably more than anyone I ever worked for. His death is a real loss.
