By the way

yard sale 2

If you’re looking to buy anything used on Craigslist, the next two weeks are the best time of the year because Memorial Day is the busiest moving weekend of the year. People are selling stuff they can’t take with them, and the prices will start to drop. Just sayin’!

  1. In the same vein, those looking for a washer and dryer might look up a local appliance repair school or training center. They often use older models to train students, ending up with ‘like-new’ reconditioned machines. My dryer just gave up the ghost and I found a reconditioned one for $150 (delivered and installed, BTW). Before the “you get what you pay for” comments start, I got the one that just died from the same school for $125 . . . 20+ years ago (no service calls in that time either). The guy would’ve come out and repaired the old one for even less, but I was sick of lookin’ at the damn thing.

  2. Ron, you’re the man. Except for mattresses reconditioned stuff works rather well in most cases for a fraction of the cost of new.
