Guardian angels

Yes, I do believe:

It’s been a big weekend for escaped minors enjoying their briefly pilfered freedom to the max. On Saturday, a 9-year-old boy had “the greatest day” of his life after breaking free from his family for a few blessed hours. Yesterday, a 6-year-old boy went rogue with his toy ATV, heading off the surface streets near his Westchester home and straight onto the northbound ramp of the Bronx River Parkway.

Police began receiving calls about the boy’s joyride less than an hour after his family realized he was missing, LoHud.com reports. Fortunately, a trio of good Samaritans on the roadway worked together to protect the boy, boxing him in with their cars and eventually pulling him to safety.

The boy was taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital for observation, but doctors fortunately found him to be unscathed. He was reunited with his family, and the incident is under investigation.

  1. When I was ten, left mom and dad a note and rode my bike over to my grandmother’s house . . . 15 miles away in the next town. My parent’s asked, “What possessed you to do such a thing?” “To see if I could.” “Oh,” they replied, “Well . . . do you want some dinner?” and never another word was said. Times were different I guess.

Their attitude, I think, is why I’ve never felt there was anything that I couldn’t do. I’ve gotten bitten a few times, but generally it’s worked out for me.
