Baseball is about winning. Politics shouldn’t be about winning. The fact that it has become about winning, all about winning, indicates just how corrupt our political system has become.
Politicians have to balance competing constituencies. That’s true only if you’re in it to win it. At all costs. Who are these competing constituencies? Everybody wants a job. A safe place to live. Enough to eat. Good things for their kids. Everybody wants peace. Which constituency doesn’t want those things? Only the greedy, Capitalist 1% and there are very few of them truth be told.
We shouldn’t attack politicians for trying to keep their jobs. When did being elected a representative of the people become just another job? Doctors have jobs. So do retail clerks and bus drivers. Elected politicians are servants. Or should be considered to be servants. If they serve us then we might reelect them. (Depending on if we can ever rid ourselves of Citizens United.)
