Last night’s highlights

Uncle Joe just killed it:

“We lead not by the example of our power but by the power of our example.”

A real billionaire lets Trump have it:

Now, we’ve heard a lot of talk in this campaign about needing a leader who understands business. I couldn’t agree more. I’ve built a business, and I didn’t start it with a million-dollar check from my father.”

Tim Kaine rocked the house:

“When he says, ‘Believe me,’ do you believe him?”

And President Obama closed out the evening:

“And that’s why I can say with confidence there has never been a man or a woman more qualified – not me, not Bill – than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America.”

And then they hugged. The end.

  1. Oh, for heaven’s sake. The convention is a pep rally. Are you seriously accusing Hillary of not offering policy specifics? Normally, she’s accused of putting people to sleep with policy specifics.

  2. Susie – has willful ignorance become a contagious disease or something? Clinton’s policy prescriptions are page after page after page – Trump and Bernie? diddlysquat

  3. Pep rally is the right description. The Dems had a great night. It moved the needle here a bit. But the challenge facing Hillary tonight is daunting. Tweety outlined it well. There is a 70% wrong track headwind. Hillary can’t just plagiarize Reagan’s Shiny City crapola when the White House has been Democratic for eight years. This is tricky terrain and Hillary the orator reminds me of Michael Dukakis in a pantsuit. I’ll be watching. I hope I have set the expectations bar low enough. I predict a bump to stalemate. But when Trump can solicit KGB help without demonstrable damage, we are in Oz.
