  1. I wonder which is the better phrase for falsely holy sadists like Ryan and his ilk: “Scribes and Pharisees” or “generation of vipers”?

So I guess Jesus was unconcerned about the souls of his audience members when he performed the miracles of the loaves and fishes to feed them?

And all the Hebrew prophets from whom Jesus drew his ethics, who constantly denounced the comfortable citizens of Israel and Judah for their apathy toward the poor, were unconcerned about the souls of the poor?

The most disturbing thing of all is that so many of my fellow “Christians” agree with Ryan.

  2. Sadist could not be a more appropriate epithet for Paul Ryan.

My take on the holy rollers is the problem isn’t the child’s soul, it’s what they imagine his skin color to be.

  3. NN is probably right about that. I’ve read that a majority of my fellow non-elite whites were fine with the welfare state for the common citizens created by the New Deal–until the Civil Rights Act and the Great Society extended the benefits to people of dusky hue.

I say “for the common citizens” to distinguish welfare for the CCs from welfare for fat cats, aka “crony capitalism”. Our conservatives are ALWAYS generous with welfare for fat cats.
