Why did Comey do this?
What was in it for him?
My guess is that he did it in response to internal pressure from rightwing offices and agents. Who knows what they have on him.
But, what a scumbag. He sacrificed the legitimacy of the presidential election to protect his ass. The politicizing of the whole justice system from law enforcement through the judiciary has been one of the most effective and misunderstood aspects of the far right takeover of the USA. Comey could be its poster boy, but I’d go with Roberts and Alito. Can’t wait to see which Dems vote to confirm Gorsuch.
