Right across the street from Yemen in Djibouti.
The Chinese just completed building their 1st oversees military base in Djibouti.
The Chinese will join the United States, Japan and France(?) who have had military bases in Djibouti for decades.
That area is a chokepoint for the Suez Canal and the Red Sea which sit between Yemen and Africa.
With the building of the Chinese base it would appear that the US is about to take a step back and hand the military responsibility over to China for keeping that critical shipping lane open.
