  1. The first record I ever bought was Hey Jude with the rowdy version of Revolution on the back of a 45 RPM single for a dollar at the Payless in Eureka. I think I was seven.
    Seeing the Apple Records label on it, my granny assumed it was Little Green Apples by Roger Miller and had my sister put it on the stereo. My sister, of course, put on the Revolution side, and all of the sudden I was in a heap of trouble.
    The funny thing to me about it now is how I totally understood what had just happened when I was such a little kid, and it didn’t seem strange to me to be in trouble for having bought that song for a dollar.
