Obama offers new spiel, but no New Deal

It was excessively generous of Paul Krugman to describe Barack Obama’s jobs plan as “bold,” given the fact that it’s long-overdue and just happens to coincide with the start of Obama’s re-election campaign

  1. He just did this to rope us all back in with “hope and change”. Fuck me once, shame on you, fuck me twice………..It’s just another way of giving money to those he wants to give money to. He is an evil man. You can “smile and smile and still be a villain can’t you? Shakespeare thought so.

I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him I hate him

    Yes I do.

  3. “Still, the plan would be a lot better than nothing, and some of its measures, which are specifically aimed at providing incentives for hiring, might produce relatively a large employment bang for the buck. As I said, it’s much bolder and better than I expected.”

Much bolder than he expected. We’re dealing with a low expectations situation here. I am guessing that Krugman assumed it would be all tax cuts, all the time. I wouldn’t say this is Krugman calling the plan “bold.”

And being as how the speech was aired just before The Beginning of Football, is there a chance that a larger percentage of the population heard Obama talking about jobs?

  4. as K said, i think krugman’s comment reflects his low expectations. as for this:

given the fact that it’s long-overdue and just happens to coincide with the start of Obama’s re-election campaign

is that a criticism? i mean, if obama really is proposing something that will help improve the employment situation, does it matter if his motive is re-election? that is how democracy is supposed to work, right? politicians being accountable to the people means that they should worry about whether what they propose hurts their re-election chances. if that is what obama is doing here, that just means the system is working the way it is supposed to.
