Poor Republicans! Nobody likes you and you smell funny. Guess that’s why no one’s donating enough money to pay your bills – at least, not enough to feed your delusions of grandeur:

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota’s debt-plagued Republican Party has been served with an eviction notice for its party headquarters after failing to pay its rent payments since August.

The party’s landlord filed the notice last week in Ramsey County court and it is scheduled to be heard next Tuesday.

Minnesota Republican Party Chairman Pat Shortridge told party members in a memo Thursday that officials are trying to renegotiate the lease to get one that better fits space and cost needs.

You mean, like a mortgage cramdown? MORAL HAZARD!!!! What incentive do you have to pay your bills unless you get kicked to the curb for renting a place that’s too big? It’s your own damned fault!

The GOP has 21 months remaining on a lease with Hub Properties Trust for space a block from the state Capitol.

Shortridge revealed that the rent hadn’t been paid in eight months.

The Minnesota GOP owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to various vendors.

I think Huntsman might have attracted the large percentage of moderate registered Republicans who no longer vote if he’d said these things earlier:

Former Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman slammed his party during an interview this weekend at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. He compared his party’s demand for purity and discipline to the Chinese Communist party, BuzzFeed reports, saying that Ronald Reagan would “likely not” be able to win the GOP nomination today.

He said he regrets taking such a hard line against tax increases, criticizing pledges like the one from anti-tax activist Grover Norquist that almost all Republican politicians sign. On his party’s foreign policy, Huntsman said, “I don’t know what world these people are living in.”

And Huntsman, who, during his presidential run, slammed his party’s denial of climate change and evolution, said this weekend, “I had to say I believe in science — and people on stage look at you quizzically as though [you were] an oddball.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today, Huntsman downplayed much of his criticism and attempted to make nice. But when asked about presumed nominee Mitt Romney — whom the former ambassador once called “completely unelectable,” but has since endorsed — Huntsman couldn’t help but bring up the candidate’s flip flopping:

WASHINGTON — As Pope Benedict XVI marked his seventh anniversary as pope on Thursday (April 19), many Catholics were wondering if the pontiff is finally becoming the papal enforcer that some feared — and others hoped — he would be when he was elected to lead the church in 2005.

The questions were prompted by this week’s announcement that Benedict had signed off on a crackdown on the organization representing most of the 57,000 nuns in the United States, saying that the group was not speaking out strongly enough against gay marriage, abortion and women’s ordination.

So one three-minute copter ride (something Gov. Christie seems to love) is all it takes to untangle the complicated situation in the Middle East, and it coincidentally lines up with what the right-wingers have said all along!

PRINCETON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (JTA) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie cautioned against Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, Jerusalem or the Golan Heights.

Speaking at a news conference Tuesday following his first trip to Israel earlier this month, Christie, who has been mentioned by Republicans as a possible vice presidential pick, said the most “eye-opening” part of his trip was a helicopter tour over part of the West Bank with Israeli military officials. Then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush expressed a similar sentiment after taking a similar helicopter tour in 1998 with then-Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon.

“Everyone who thinks they have an opinion that’s worth something on the Palestinian issue should take that tour,” Christie said. The helicopter ride took “three minutes from West Bank settlements to the Mediterranean. A missle goes much faster than a helicopter.”

Speaking to a right wing radio host Tuesday, likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney repurposed a phrase from Hillary Clinton, citing a “vast left wing conspiracy” brewing in the media and liberal advocacy organizations to derail his campaign.

Romney was making an appearance on Breitbart TV and was asked by host Larry O’Connor whether he was ready to take on “the media and these nonprofits groups that are working together.”

“There will be an effort by the quote vast left wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me,” Romney said in response. “They’re going to do everything they can to divert from the message people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That’s what people care about.”

Romney’s choice of words echoes Clinton’s assertion in 1998 that a “vast right wing conspiracy” was behind the sexual harassment charges her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was facing at the time.

“I mean, look at the very people who are involved in this – they have popped up in other settings,” Clinton, now the U.S. secretary of state, said on NBC’s “Today” in 1998. “This is – the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president.”

Romney said dealing with journalists, many of whom he said were biased, was a perpetual problem for Republicans.

“Many in the media are inclined to do the president’s bidding and I know that’s an uphill battle we fight with the media generally,” Romney said, before praising O’Connor for offering a conservative voice.
