A perfect game

My former brother-in-law called today to check in; we hadn’t talked in a while. He told me his ten-year-old just pitched a perfect game in Little League.

“You should see him,” he said. “He’s tall and lanky, very self-possessed out there on the mound. There were three outs to go, and I was a nervous wreck. He was really focused.”

He said his son is so good, he just sent him to a pitching workshop with Cole Hamels. “It’s a lot of money, but you know, if he has the ability…”

“You never know, he might be taking care of you in your old age,” I kidded him. (The ex-B.I.L. is 65 and still pitching for a men’s baseball league.)

Too bad the kid’s not a lefty like his old man.
