Mo Snow

One reason I’m glad we’re getting another two feet of snow is that the older snow is starting to look dirty.

In my part of the city, a lot of people park their cars under the nearby I-95 so they don’t have to dig them out of their parking spots. It’s still pretty bad on the side streets.

A Miracle

My friend called me at 10 last night. He’d been at a conference in Dallas and now he couldn’t get a flight home to D.C.

“I told you,” I said.

“Told me what?”

“I told you the other day this big storm was going to hit and you might be stranded.”

“You did?”

It was even worse than I thought. A lot of the Amtrak lines weren’t operating, and the airlines were barely functional. He thought maybe he’d fly into Miami instead, stay over a day and fly home from there.

“Are you crazy? The SuperBowl fans are all going to be heading out of there today, and when they find out their flights are canceled, it’ll be a zoo.”

Well, he called me an hour ago to let me know he’d gotten up at 4:30, flown to Atlanta, and then into Baltimore, and was on a train pulling into to D.C.’s Union Station. I was so happy for him.

Because there’s no place like home after being away.

More Big Ass Snow

We’re getting another nor’easter Tuesday night and Wednesday. We’re supposed to get at least another foot of snow – unless it gets pushed north to New England. (This means you, Dr. S.!)

I was telling someone today the big problem is, where do you put the snow? In the downtown area, they load it into trucks and dump it into the river, but that’s not practical in the neighborhoods with all these narrow streets.
