One thought on “Corporate campaign cash

  1. MoveToAmend.org has already begun a grassroots movement to educate We the People regarding this issue. Public campaign finance works in Maine, and BIG SURPRISE the politicians are beholden to the common good rather than to corporations; they quickly figure out what it takes to get re-elected, and the actual citizens are the beneficiaries.

Corporations have no thoughts or feelings, and are not natural persons. The time has come to remove them from “personhood” status. Corporations (railroads) first sued for equal protection under the law in 1868, after the 14th Amendment was ratified. This began their march toward “personhood” culminating in Citizens United, and now this ruling in VA. Given the long legal precedent, there is no way to overturn this ruling, so we need a new amendment.

    The People’s Rights Amendment
Section 1. We the people who ordain and establish this Constitution intend the rights protected herein to be the rights of natural persons.
Section 2. People, person, or persons as used in this Constitution does not include corporations, limited liability companies or other corporate entities established by the laws of any state, the United States, or any foreign state, and such corporate entities are subject to such regulations as the people, through their elected representatives, deem reasonable and are otherwise consistent with the powers of Congress and the States under this Constitution.
Section 3. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to limit the people’s rights of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, free exercise of religion, and such other rights of the people, which rights are inalienable.
