You Don’t Say

I’m shocked, I tell you - shocked!
Much of the intelligence on Iran’s nuclear facilities provided to UN inspectors by US spy agencies has turned out to be unfounded, diplomatic sources in Vienna said today.
The claims, reminiscent of the intelligence fiasco surrounding the Iraq war, coincided with a sharp increase in international tension as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran was defying a UN security council ultimatum to freeze its nuclear programme.
That report, delivered to the security council by the IAEA director general, Mohammed ElBaradei, sets the stage for a fierce international debate on the imposition of stricter sanctions on Iran and raises the possibility that the US could resort to military action against Iranian nuclear sites.
Is it something in our water? I mean, here you have basically the rest of the world calling bullshit, and Buscho is like, “fine! If you don’t want to play, we’ll take our toys and do it without you,” and everyone in the US seems to be okay with this. Maybe because we’re so distracted by Iraq, I don’t know.
Sure there are questions - I get that. But you don’t go committing lives to questions. And I’ve never been entirely able to reconcile why we have to invade if other countries have nukes, but it’s okay if we have them.
It always sort of reminds me of the South Park episode where in order to save the town from hippies, Cartman demands a remote control truck, but with the stipulation that Kyle can never have one, ever, and he has to watch him play with it.

Let’s see if the troll has this right:
The president of Iran has called for the eradication of both the US & Isreal. He participated in the 1979 storming of the US Embassy in Tehran, imprisioning 444 Americans. He backs Hezbollah, who, among other acts, killed 240 Marines in Lebanon in 1983. He appluded the the Kobar Tower attack, the 1st WTC bombing, the USS Cole attack,& of course the events of Sept. 11th 2001. C’mon, Iran has been bullying us for, gee, 30 YEARS!
So this guy announces to the world that Iran is now a member of the “nuclear community”, & what do I see here? I see that you don’t believe that he intends on using this technology for something other than “peaceful purposes”. you go back to the ole’ “Bully Bush” line. Yea, that’s the ticket! Blame Bush.
The problem is dunce Bush gets it, & the Democratic leadership knows this. That’s why this meaningless non-binding resolution stuff is going on.
These people consider us the Great Satan, regardless of which party is in power. Those hostages were taken with a Democrat in the White House. Read what Clinton said about Sadaam & WMD’s.
If it’s your job to protect the country, you CANNOT assume it can’t happen. Britain & France paid a dear price for thinking that Hitler & Stalen wouldn’t cooperate.
I’d rather see the war over there than here, which is on the way if the mindset that I just read prevails.
Kevin’s diatribe misses the point of the article. There is very little there, there.
Ahmadinejad is not the center of power in Iran. Nor is the President of Iraq the center of Power, it is the prime Minister in Iraq, the Supreme Mullah in Iran.
The key to the post is that the “Intel” on Iran we are giving IAEA is just as bad as the “Intel” we gave IAEA and the UN regarding Iraq.
Undedr the UN resolutions prior to the Iraq war all nations with “Intel” were required to provide it to the UN so the Inspectors could track it down.
We did, they did and they found nothing! So now we give our “intel” to IAEA and they track it down and find nothing!
Kevin’s historical points are invalid and so is his position that W is in the job of protecting us! The harm to the US by attacking Iran will dwarf the problems we have had after the invasion of Iraq.

Kevin seems to watch too much Faux News.
The president of Iran has called for the eradication of both the US & Isreal.
yes and no. he has not called for the eradication of the u.s. he does apparently believe that israel should cease to exist (as do most of our allies in the middle east for that matter), but has never called for any attack against israel.
He participated in the 1979 storming of the US Embassy in Tehran, imprisioning 444 Americans.
nope. when he was first elected there were some people who claimed that ahmedinajad was the guy in one of the photographs of the hostage-takers. one of the hostages even said that he thought it might be him. but the problem with that theory is that the names of the hostage-takers are public knowledge in iran. their names are written on the wall of the former u.s. embassy and many iranian politicians brag about it in their official biography. ahmedinajad is simply not any any of those lists and now the story is pretty much considered to be rebutted.
He backs Hezbollah, who, among other acts, killed 240 Marines in Lebanon in 1983.
true. it’s also worth mentioning that hezbollah has renounced violent acts against the u.s. and has not participated in any for over a decade.
He appluded the the Kobar Tower attack, the 1st WTC bombing, the USS Cole attack,& of course the events of Sept. 11th 2001.
that’s not true. actually iran declared an official day of mourning after 9/11 and tehran witnessed the first government sanctioned pro-american demonstration after the revolution in the days after that event.
So this guy announces to the world that Iran is now a member of the “nuclear community”, & what do I see here? I see that you don’t believe that he intends on using this technology for something other than “peaceful purposes”.
there’s no actual proof that they’re not developing it for peaceful purposes. the problem here is mostly what they might be capable of, not what we know they are
so basically, i don’t think the troll has it very right at all
