I didn’t see that many of the nominated films, but I did see “The Hurt Locker” and was blown away (no pun intended). So I’m happy that it won Best Picture, because it accomplished something I’ve never seen before.

By completely avoiding standard “war is hell” cliches, instead showing what serving in the Iraq war does to one man’s psyche, this just might be the strongest anti-war picture I’ve ever seen.

And for that, I salute Kathleen Bigelow.
