I love the Zep as much as anybody (I bought their first album pretty much sight unseen when it first came out and dug the hell out of it), but I gotta say, Jimmy Page–again, all honors to the group and the man–was not nearly the player that Clapton and Beck were. I remember listening to Album 1 with my guitarist friend back in the day and him exclaiming, Listen to all those notes he’s missing! Same here in the video. Still, you gotta love ’em; seminal, unforgettable, indispensable. Fact, I think I need to hear “The Lemon Song” right about now. Missed notes and all, fuckers could cut a riff like nobody else.
