No sales on Thanksgiving

I grew up at a time and in a region of the country where literally nothing was open on Thanksgiving, any other holidays or Sundays for that matter. But that was back when people had pantries and shit. It was a real pain when you needed band-aids, formula, diapers and such. But rarely do I go shopping for a TV or new suit on the holiday.
The only good reason that I can think of for stores to be open on Thxgiving and Xmas is that here in Georgia the moonshiners and bootleggers can make out like fat rats because it’s illegal for the ‘liscensed’ liquor dealers to sell. But, hey, everyone has to make a livin’………………….somehow!
