…but it was always puzzling that there were no stereo versions of the first three. They *finally* released ’em on “The Essential Sly & The Family Stone” CD, and I put the headphones on and got ready for nirvana. And I suppose that if I’d never heard the mono versions, I’d have loved them. But like late Beatles (through The White Album), the mono versions are the revelatory ones, and the ones I always go back to.
Damn, I wish Sly had stayed away from dope. He could’ve been and done so much more…sigh…
