As someone who had to deliver statements like this to the press, I can tell you that everybody and their mother has to sign off on them because what seems perfectly innocuous to one staffer will give another one nightmares:
UPDATE: A source familiar with the White House emails on the Benghazi talking point revisions say that State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland was raising two concerns about the CIA’s first version of talking points, which were going to be sent to Congress: 1) The talking points went further than what she was allowed to say about the attack during her state department briefings; and, 2) she believed the CIA was attempting to exonerate itself at the State Department’s expense by suggesting CIA warnings about the security situation were ignored.
In one email, Nuland asked, why are we suggest Congress “start making assertions to the media [about the al Qaeda connection] that we ourselves are not making because we don’t want to prejudice the investigation?”
One other point: The significant edits – deleting references to al Qaeda and the CIA’s warnings – came after a White House meeting on the Saturday before Ambassador Susan Rice appeared on five Sunday shows. Nuland, a 30-year foreign service veteran who has served under Democratic and Republican Secretaries of State, was not at that meeting and played no direct role in preparing Rice for her interviews.
Your librul media, folks. All the wingnuts have to do to get general acceptance for the “truth” of a story is to repeat it, over and over and over again. Then the lapdog press simply regurgitates on command!

The overthrow of Qaddafi was engineered by the CIA (Petraeus) and given strong support by Hillary’s State Department and Panetta’s Defense Dept. As we have all found out since it ended badly with the country being controlled by various “terrorist” groups. One of those groups was Ansar al-Sharia which had ties to al-Qaeda. This group attacked the CIA station in Benghazi on September 11th. The attack killed Amb. Chris Hill and three other Americans. What followed was a classic ‘CYA’ situation on the part of Hillary, Petraeus and Panetta. Each for their own reasons. Petraeus doctored the intelligence. Hillary controlled and slanted the information coming from the State Deptartment. Panetta remained silent. Their stonewalling and misdirection left Amb. Rich and Obama twisting in the wind. And the American people with a distorted and untrue picture of exactly what took place on that day in September.
