  1. Well, happy birthday. May you have many and healthy ones more.

The protests are evolving and growing, which is good.

  2. From comments, YouTube video: Wall Street Fails to Deliver.

I can’t wait to read this paper. Susie, do you know if they have editors?

From Guns and Butter on WBAI this morning, a full hour of Prof. Michael Hudson (no transcript, but audio) on Europe’s decision time about the economics of debt and deficit, along with much about the US situation. Scroll through WBAI archives to Friday, 9/30, Guns and Butter.

From Democracy Now!. on site report about Occupy Wall Street set up at Zucotti Park. Audio up now, transcript to follow.

On the Dem Now! report, someone said there’s now an Occupy Milwaukee. Oh, I do have some real hope for this movement. Kudos to all the people who worked long and hard to get this off the ground –er– on the ground in the Wall Street area.

  3. The kids want to do it themselves, so older activists are treading lightly and concentrating on parallel actions instead of trying to tell them what to do.

  4. This is anarchy!!!! Which is how it should be done. No leader at the top. Just a bunch of like-minded people gathering together to vote on doing the ‘right thing’ Peacefully. You know you can actually run a whole country that way. Anarchy works every bit a well as a democratic republic does. Maybe better. Happy Birthday to you. Now start an occupy Philadelphia movement. You ain’t getting any younger, you know?

  5. Church of dissent. Hear hear. What they’re doing is the experiential equivalent of the antithesis of the cult of personality (i.e., slavery to the hit machine). Good on them. Some people don’t have a clue as to what the occupiers are doing or why, but that’s because they’re not operating from the same vantage point. Doing something other than what the script says to do is exactly what this world needs. It will give proof that it can be done some other way. A better way.

For today, especially, cue: Better Days, thekinks. Looking for something Sting to honor a 5SCO. Read the hints of the quantum nature of history in the prose stanzas in 1000 Years.

If it takes another thousand years, a thousand wars,
The towers rise to numberless floors in space
I could shed another million tears, a million breaths,
A million names but only one truth to face

    [….]
I may be numberless, I may be innocent
I may know many things, I may be ignorant
Or I could ride with kings and conquer many lands
Or win this world at cards and let it slip my hands
I could be cannon food, destroyed a thousand times
Reborn as fortune’s child to judge another’s crimes
Or wear this pilgrim’s cloak, or be a common thief
I’ve kept this single faith, I have but one belief

    Equality.
