  1. The only time I got to see Richard Thompson was at an in-store performance at Amoeba in SF before one of his Fillmore shows. He introduced this song by saying “This is a song about how a girl got her motorcycle.”

  2. Nice cover and the expected tribute to RT from this group. Three of them together almost achieved what RT did alone at the 2010 BBC broadcast; Vega and Wainright looking on next to him with something like dumbstruck, jealous awe. Vega revelled in the mastery, Loudon did his best to look bored.

    RT’s cover of “Woodstock” at the Joni Mitchell Tribute in 2000 is another favorite. When Joni closes her eyes and goes with it, you know you’ve done something with her music.

    To be honest, though, I would never ride a Vincent Black Lightning in anything but a straight line, on a glass smooth road, with no other traffic in sight, at half speed. Even to win Red Molly’s heart.
