The US intelligence community has been warning US politicians since 1999 that Putin was a lying, murdering, psychopath.
Before Putin became the official president of Russia (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics collapsed on Christmas Day 1991) he was assigned the task of pacifying Chechnya.
On Christmas Day 1999 Putin ordered Chechnya’s capital city of Grozny to be turned into a pile of rubble.
Chechnya was pacified. Mission accomplished.
Putin became the president of Russia on May 7, 2000.
In late 2016 Syria’s Assad hired Putin to pacify the city of Aleppo which was under the control of Islamic “terrorists.”
Putin turned Aleppo into a pile of rubble and drove out the “terrorists.”
Mission accomplished.
Since the collapse of the USSR in 1991, US foreign policy has been to encircle Russia.
As NATO expanded eastward, at first hesitatingly by adding 4 members in 1999, and then much more rapidly under George W. Bush by adding 7 more countries in 2002.
Since 2002 Putin and Russia have grown more and more apoplectic about the continued eastward expansion of NATO and the heavily armed NATO countries already sitting on its western border.
He’s been asking for talks about Russia’s security concerns since then and has been completed ignored or laughed at.
