The Voice of the White House says certain interests are talking about a coup (usual disclaimers apply):
As a result of the economic and military disasters the narrow-minded and ignorant President is creating, there is now a very powerful internal movement to get him out of the White House, either by turning Congress and the people against him (with the willing assistance of the media barons) or by more forceful means…a coup d’Etat.
I do not have any concrete knowledge of the specifics of this alleged putsch but my sources are certain that it is being very seriously pursued with at least one study group working on control of internal communications (my sources’ specialty) and a banker friend of mine, another source, has said almost the identical thing to me. They do not know each other and, to the best of my knowledge, have no points of contact.
One of them said that Bush is afraid of such possible actions and has gathered a huge number of security people around his person to prevent his being siezed or assassinated. Cheney is also terrified of this and spends most of his time in a very heavily guarded underground bunker. A source has supplied me with the location of this but I am leaving that bit of information strictly private.
An unsuccessful grenade attack on Bush in Georgia was deliberately underreported and there was a plot uncovered by the German security people to blow Bush up when he came to Mainz, Germany, earlier this year.

I would lap this up out of my tinfoil hat while watching SEVEN DAYS IN MAY, save that I fear what came after would be even worse…
Susie, you shouldn’t print silly stuff like this, unless you weigh in with a conclusion at the end, qualifying what you know of the report and the veracity of the source.
Otherwise, you become just another spreader of fertilizer like Drudge and the other nutjobs.
G Newman-
Um, Susie DID give her opinion at the beginning with her comment “usual disclaimers apply.” Sometimes things can be posted as just interesting without excessive comment. Besides, who’s to say this is silly? Do you know for sure that this is not true? Where is your proof? Finally, why so angry about it all?
Now Susie, you know the people most likely to knock off the President are Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld and the profiteers, don’t you?
Nobody else , NOBODY, on this planet wants a Cheney Presidency.
Oh, ish! Matt, you mistake my critique for anger. That’s the difficulty of a written medium, where you can’t see a person’s eyes…
Real journalism — something we had in the 1970s that now seems to have been lost — requires validation of sources and minimal confirmation of stories. A statement like “The usual disclaimers apply” is (almost) a thong of integrity… but not quite.
If I wanted crapola, I’d go to Drudge, or Worldnet Daily, or NewsMax. But when I want weighted reporting and insightful commentary, I come here, Gilliard, Julia’s Live Journal, Body and Soul, etc.
This little newstory was pretty thin by the standard that Susie has established for herself.
This is the first time I’ve seen this TBR site. Just how nuts is this guy? I mean, is he completely in tinfoil land or is he checking out occasionally?
it’s usually the right-wing nutties that go around killing people isn’t it?
one thing i thought of though, is when bush went somewhere in south america, and the local security wouldn’t let his secret service agents in at first. bush then went back into the fray and grabbed his guy and pulled him through.
there were minute rumors after that about an assassination attempt.
I keep forgetting about that grenade incident. That’s just ANOTHER parallel between bush and hitler.
Taking out bush and making him into a marytr is not a good idea. I’d like to see him go to jail for a long time, along with his dad and all their friends.
AND,
If you swallow the ‘official’ story of the 2000 election, 9/11, the Afghan/Iraq invasions, and the torture scandals, then it is you my friend, who wears the tin foil hat. Where’s the proof? Where’s the evidence? Hmmm, it’s gone, so I’ll just believe whatever they tell me because they’ve been so honest up till now. please.
Trusting your government is never a good idea unless it’s trust in that they will fuck shit up and look out for themselves.
What about the downing street memo? Are you seriously telling me that if Clinton was pulling this shit it would be no big deal? Come on.
Why is nobody just flat out saying impeach this guy? Liberal media?
They work for us remember. We can fire them if they fuck up and they are fucking up big time. It’s amazing and sad to see so many people get it twisted when it comes to our country and our government. They are NOT the same. Love your country, watch your politicians like a hawk. This is where WE fucked up.
But come on people, at least Bush is SO BAD there’s a chance he’ll expose the government for the nest of vipers that it is and a revolutionary change will take place.
I don’t have a clue whether this guy is out in left field; some minor items have checked out in the past. But there’s something about him that has the ring of truth. Is this stuff any weirder than what we know to date? A coup put Bush in; it’s not inconceivable that one could take him out.
Some readers have said some unsavory things about tbrnews.org. I just don’t know enough to say one way or another.
There was the hand grenade in Tbilisi, Georgia : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4535187.stm
Though that seems more like a nasty joke than an assasination attempt
Forgive my foggy mind and lazy fingers, but were we not just winding down the loss of S.Vietnam in 1974 when we had a summer full of riveting TV called the Watergate hearings?
America had suffered tremendous losses in that war and yet still had the where withall to get Nixon out of the WH. Hell, the cold war was still going on and we managed to do it.
I’d love to turn the phrase “let’s roll” right back on this group and roll right into high crimes - war crimes - plain old lying to the American taxpayer.
Kick every last one of them out.
..a putsch for a putz ? Sacre Bleu.
at the risk of sounding booth-esk, if GW were assasinated on foreign soil, by an individual and not a gov’t, then I bet Cheney and the rest of the Bushies would still be calling it a “liberal plot.”
the time for a president not to waiver, ended the day Bush went after Osama after 9/11. Per Bartlett: “there are very few times when there are an absolute right and an absolute wrong, and there are usually bodies involved with both.”
the wonderful bubble that exists either around GW, or in his own head, have truly kept him from understanding the damage he and the Bushies are doing to this country and our reputation abroad.
i was talking to a friend in Italy last night, and he said that we would not believe the utter hatred that people have for us over there. they are boycotting U.S. goods to such an extent that they don’t even allow coke machines on his college campus!
not everything is some crazy liberal plot.
Oh, I don’t doubt that the last two elections were fixed, as were the justifications for the wars. And I agree that the grenade in Georgia was weird. But any assassination attempt on Bush is not going to be by our friends. And would be used by Cheney/Rove to make things worse.
DailyKos had a warning on this guy:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/5/4/15748/99064
However, I don’t know about the Kos diarist who started the warning, but it sounds like a few in the community are checking him out, including EPluribus Media who have been instrumental in the Gannon affair.
Sounds pretty thorough, Jane. Okay, you’ve convinced me. I’m not going to link to him again.
I’m glad you posted this though, this piece did give my spirits a lift. Let’s hope the loon knows what he’s talking about. I’d welcome a coupe d’tat with my glass held high.
I’d rather see our constitutional procedures work, as surely one coup would beget others. It’s not time to give up hope yet — it took the Watergate investigations well over a year to get to the brink of impeachment, anti-Vietnam activity several years to change the public consensus. We might be ahead of schedule now.
