Bizarro World

I just can’t figure out why Durbin would take his cues on morality from Republicans:
WASHINGTON Jun 22, 2005 — A week after comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes, Sen. Dick Durbin apologized on the Senate floor.
“Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line,” said the Illinois Democrat, at times holding back tears. “To them I extend my heartfelt apologies.”
Durbin said he never intended disrespect for U.S. soldiers around the world.
“They’re the best,” he said Tuesday.

This is why I hold my tongue when a Democrat says something that badly needs to be said.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Dems who turn to truth-telling and then subsequently buckle under pressure to water down their statements do considerably more harm than good. Cluephone: If you’re not prepared to vigorously defend your statements, keep your fucking mouth closed.
“They’re the best” at what? Disregarding international law? Does Durbin not intend disrespect for Charles Graner, Lynndie England, and their cohorts? Or does he think they’re “the best” too?
