Quote of the Day
Aug 23rd, 2006 at 4:40 pm by Susie
“I love my church, and I’m a Catholic who was raised by intellectuals who were very devout. I was raised to believe that you could question the church and still be a Catholic. What is worthy of satire is the misuse of religion for destructive or political gains. That’s totally different from the Word, the blood, the body, and the Christ. His kingdom is not of this earth.”
- Stephen Colbert, of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

Amen!
Wow! Did he say that on the air?
I was raised by Catholic Workers myself, and though I’m not particularly religious, I have tremendous respect for those whose faith leads them to do good for others.
Hating on gay people and obsessing over embryos? Not so much.
I too was raised in the Catholic faith. I must “confess†it was the best education possible to foster my conversion to atheism.
Source?
I got it from the Sojourners weekly email, but there was no link. (www.sojo.net.) Can’t find it on the site… wait, here’s a link:
