At some point in every political junky’s life, he or she becomes painfully cognizant of a horrid yet seductive force, often referred to as “the narrative,” which hangs like a stale fart over all that is good or evil in the public realm. I’m fairly certain we saw it change yesterday and again last night. Not so much as to fully and accurately reflect the profoundly anti-war sentiment of the public at large, but in that direction. Late last night I found myself feeling almost hopeful that the war can be ended in short order with the proper leadership from Congress. I realized that was the alcohol talking, so I put myself to bed and I’m feeling suitably grim this morning. If there ever were a time for any one of the dozens of delusional egomaniacs running around congress, who think they ought to be the next president, to assert some genuine leadership and try to end the war, the time now. I won’t hold my breath.
Anyway, having said nothing much, I’ll be out for most of the day. Somebody should be along in a bit to amuse you.

There was an article on Yahoo this morning titled “candidates praise parts of Bush address”. I read it through twice, but I didn’t see anything that looked like praise.

Maybe they were praising the fact that it finally ended.
