we live blogged at our place and pretty much made fun of the talking heads the whole time…
I look to them for comedic value and to decipher their partisan coded phrases these days.
As with any major event, television is the last place you would turn to learn what’s happening.
The local cable news is so lame they tape one weather report in the morning and repeat it twice an hour for ten hours- even while we experience major flooding that closes many roads and, in my case, turned a ten-minute drive into a two-hour workaround. Totally clueless.
You’re absolutely right, Susan. My habits have changed so completely that I didn’t even think of this while I was doing it. That is, it never even occurred to me to turn on the TV.
We don’t even put the tv on for this kind of coverage.
Information on the internet seems more accurate and more diverse. There is such a partisan bias by the “stars” on the tube they become unwatchable. This includes all the “reporters” who give updates and spot coverage.
My wife said this morning that she doesn’t care about the poll results, but rather why a candidate is attracting or losing support. Now, that might require some real reporting, and the folks covering Iowa just didn’t seem up to it.
Forget the pretty faces (seems like the same old ones everywhere), report the story!
Like serial catowner, I wouldn’t trust coporate media to tell me the time of day.
When I was working out at the gym yesterday I glanced up at the TV every now and then as the talking heads on CNN blathered on and on. Shakespeare described it best: “A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
When I got home I logged on to the usual sites to get some useful information.
