Those Tennessee firefighters let a house burn to the ground because the owners didn’t pay their $75 fire fee?
Why, that makes as much sense as letting someone suffer from an illness because they haven’t bought insurance… oh, never mind.

This is very sad. It’s really a can’t win situation.
But if people choose to prioritize other expenditures over a reasonably (priced 21-cents per day) fire protection policy, they really have no grounds for complaint. In effect they have chosen, and gotten, “small government.”
And the comments from firefighters beneath that piece are telling, too, pretty much along the lines of “They were just following orders” in letting the place burn. True enough.
We’ve heard that defense before somewhere.
And the authoritarian in charge insisting that the fire department, which had already responded to the call, would have gone absolutely broke if they had put out the fire, plus, he wanted to make an example of these vagrant fire victims.
That’s a mighty nice community you’ve got going there!
