So the Republican radicals have, at least for now, prevented Obama from executing his ritual sacrifice of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Why our president chooses to shred the social safety net instead of reducing military spending and taxing rich people remains a mystery, at least to the people who voted for him.
There’s something pathological about Obama’s thinking.
Maybe it has something to do with growing up without a father. Is he trying to please authority figures (rich people)? Is he trying to show that he’s strong?
‘Tis a puzzlement.
I have no delusions regarding Obama’s motivations. As a moderate Republican at heart, he’s serving exactly the class that Republicans serve and it’s NOT working men and women. It’s a symptom of how corrupt our electoral system has become that our choice is between insane ideologues who want to kill tens of millions and heartless bureaucrats who only want millions to die as unobtrusively as possible.
No mystery, no surprise, although his “Audacity of Betrayal” is stunning.
It’s all there in his books, and in the health care “reform” process.
Explosive upward mobility that could only have occurred with implied and explicit assuranes to the PTB that he would not betray their interests. Arrogant, grandiose belief in his own abilities, through superior reasoning and accomodation, to bring together opposing parties. Almost total lack of comprehension of underlying dynamics and irreconcilable forces that drive the class struggle.
Also, too, he’s a wimp.

Point taken. The political system is irretrievably broken. For real change to happen it will have to come from the streets. But that will have to wait ’til after the Super Bowl. Priorities. Let’s see, beer, chips, dip…
Obama betrayed us the 2nd day of his first term when he selected his cabinet. I knew right then and many of the rednecks in my Ozark town got it right away also. I watched him piss everything away when he didn’t have to. He married Michelle who waas the little sister of a man who was part of a black politically influential group in which all were going places. She was his entry. And Michelle was that young black girl in your classroom that pouted if she didn’t get a perfect mark on her papers. I had a lot of them. Lower lip jutted out, scowl, with a threat of anger underneath and they were always ready to give you a lousy feedback at the end of the semester or report you for some perceived racial insult you hadn’t made. The two of them are a piece of work. How much longer can we say things like this in freedom?
Psychology can used to interpret his behavior. What if you look at him as a strategist. At 10 his mother remarried and he chose to stay with his WHITE grandparents, rather than go off to Indonesia. His grandfather was evidently a charmer who procured supplies for his division and avoided action that way. He had knocked up a white girl on the good side of town before he left. Back in KS he couldn’t make a go of it. His daughter was tops in her high school and was a shoe in for a scholarship to Vassar, Wellesley, colleges of that caliber. So what does he do but take the family to Hawaii where there was more opportunity. His daughter goes to college in Hawaii and gets knocked up by an exchange student from Kenya who gets into Harvard Law on affirmative action scholarship. She knows what it is going to be like to be a white woman, married to a Black man, living on scholarship money in winter cold New England. And we don’t need to know much else as to why she decided to stay in Hawaii and eventually divorce him.
So since 10 Obama has made strategic choices. He went to a good private school in Hawaii and was with all white students. Then he went to a community college where it seems he didn’t shine there either. Affirmative action got him into NYU and then Harvard Law I believe. At this point I see Clarence Thomas’s POV concerning affirmative action and I never thought I would flip that way. But I flipped only after seeing so many really good instructors get turned down at college interviews for positions in favor of someone who qualified for affirmative action. Even myself as to tenure. A blessing I didn’t appreciate at the time.
Obama is what James Baldwin calls “Marginal Man” or what Franz Fanon calls “Black Face White Mask” in his book of that name. Obama is an Oreo cookie. I’ve known a lot of them, haven’t you? And they are smart slick, slick smart. He just rose to his level of incompetence quickly while he had the chance. He was helped by Bill Clinton’s unzipped fly.
