Karl Marx wrote extensively about taxation. He strongly supported, “A heavy progressive or graduated income tax” in order to equalize wealth. “From each according to their abilities; to each according to their needs.” That sounds a lot like our own taxing system which supports our public safety net. Mr. Ryan and the Republicans hate it. They want a survival of the fittest system in place. They call it individual responsibility. There is one other element in Ryan’s backround that plays an important role in his decision making process. He’s a Roman Catholic. Truth be told, and it hasn’t been yet, WWII was as much about the Church of Rome defeating the Socialist and Communist political movements throughout Europe than it was about anything else. So Ryan is just keeping up an old Catholic tradition that he himself might not even be aware of.
