All hell breaks loose again

M.I.T. in Cambridge reporting shots fired, officer down and suffering life threatening injuries. It’s not known at this time whether there is any connection to the Boston marathon bombing.

UPDATE: First officer is dead, second officer down in Watertown. Police report suspects who hijacked Mercedes SUV at gunpoint have grenades and explosives. One suspect is wounded, cops have pulled back because of the explosives. “Maintain perimeter, do not go through back yards.”

Undetonated ordinance in the streets; residents advised not to go outside.

One suspect is on foot in the area.

Cops are being told to power down all cell phones.

Live scanner feed here. CNN, of course, is not even covering this. Twitter has replaced traditional news.

A man across the street from where the original confrontation took place tweeted this picture.

1:20 a.m. Now, more than an hour since this started, CNN is finally covering it.

Cops reporting a second suspect in custody, looking to confirm his identity. Boston Globe reporter on the scene says cops are questioning a handcuffed male in back of ambulance. Homeland Security and “an outside agency” (FBI) on the scene.

1:24 “They may not have the second suspect. He may still be out there.”

Person in handcuffs “appears to be a witness right now.”

Local news crew on scene.

1:32 Suspect ordered to strip, moved into police van completely undressed. Still no official link to Marathon bombing. CNN reluctant to say. Gee, I wonder why.

Jake Tapper saying the second suspect has been apprehended.

1:39 “We do NOT have a second suspect in custody. We do NOT have a second suspect in custody.”

2:05 I’m going to bed. Will catch up in the morning.

  1. Bless your heart, Suze…………………I just don’t know how in the world YOU do this day in and out………..so many idiots, morons, and psychopaths, govmint and otherwise, and you continue on, seemingly unmoved. Will you run for president in 2016? PLEASE!

  2. I’m pretty sure officer-involved shootings aren’t out of the ordinary in Boston, so I’ll wait and see.

  3. BBC last night was quite awed and agog about what’s happening in Boston and Watertown.

I couldn’t sleep bcz my sciatica wouldn’t tamp down, even with the good pain med, and I was afraid to take extra and sleep through my alarms (I had an appt for two more epidural shots), so I was aware of them talking about it over and over and over and over and over….

They were stunned at the report of all the shots fired in the first encounter of police and the two bomber suspects. And now the report is that over 200 bullets were fired!

A woman in the neighborhood had bullets flying through her front door! She says she actually saw ii coming through the door and then going through her house. (NPR report)
