This is the kind of thing that could conceivably be imitated by other police departments to establish “control.” Smells like ALEC.
So, if one of those illegally arrested had a gun, could he shoot the cop? After all, the cop committed assault and battery. And if the arrest is unlawful, the one arrested has the right to resist. So why shouldn’t the one arrested stand his ground? Blow the cop’s head off? Man oh man, this craziness is not going to end well. The cops may think (as they always have) that it is easier to go after trespassing than, say, real criminals, but they are about to get a rude awakening. Right between the eyes.
Seems to me this is how you fill the ranks of the “prisons for profit” system. The article about the Pennsylvania judge the other day, who threw everybody who came before him to supply the bodies to the prison system – wouldn’t surprise me if some police departments are getting kickbacks, too.
