Offensive

World Trade Centre Memorial, Battery Park

I find the very existence of the WTC site as a park/museum to be offensive. What difference does the sale of souvenir baubles make?

I suppose there’s historical significance to the fact that it’s one of the few times that America received the same terror treatment we so routinely inflict on other countries. But to make a shrine out of it? That’s what I call offensive. Let the dead rest in peace.

  1. The Jews have their Holocaust museums and we have Ground Zero. Capitalists always find a way to turn horror into a cottage industry and a money making venture. Nothing is sacred to these politically driven vultures and profiteers. We will all replace our plastic dashboard Jesus with falling towers. At the low, low price of $19.99. Don’t delay. Order yours today.

  2. Thank you for this. The In-Laws are from NYC and every time we go to visit they are certain to ask if we want to go and tour the WTC site. They can’t seem to understand how grotesque I find that idea to be.

  3. Stuff like this was on sale when circumstances forced me to go here in 2011. I will not return, but not because of the gift shop…
