How consistently male-dominated extremist religions turn to abusing women as a public good:
GENEVA – Militants have ordered all girls and women in and around Iraq’s northern city of Mosul to undergo female genital mutilation, the United Nations said on Thursday. The “fatwa” issued by the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) would potentially affect 4 million women and girls, U.N. resident and humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Jacqueline Badcock told reporters by videolink from Erbil, Iraq.
I don’t even know what to say. These aren’t women who grew up in a culture where this is considered “normal.” This is nothing but torture and mutilation for the sake of exercising power. Sometimes I forget how primal misogyny is.
Our brilliant foreign policy moves sure have panned out. What a delightful place Iraq has become. It sure was a great idea to allow the CIA to murder Khadafi and try to overthrow Assad. Then there’s the paradise we’ve established in Afghanistan. But how can you top the masterful job that the CIA did with the coup’s in Egypt and Ukraine? But worst of all is our ridiculous relationship with the Zionists in Israel. How much more ‘good news’ can we all stand?
I saw that too and was all “Huh? But it’s not even practiced there. It’s a northeast African thing, for the most part.”
Apparently the notice was a fake posted by some enemy of theirs to make them look bad. As if they needed to look any worse than they already are.
The irony is, they’re so bad I didn’t doubt it for a moment. I just didn’t get it because it didn’t make sense in terms of specific demented local cultures.
Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. Republican Party and (almost any) “Christian” Church. Same, Same. American women are only an election away from similar victimization here in the Land of the Free. Maybe they should register and turn out to vote . . .
