Mean Girls file Obamacare lawsuit

Who knows what will happen, since the Republicans have done such a good job of seeding the judiciary with activist judges who care more about politics than law? But it’s still entertaining to see what Mean Girls the Republicans are:

WASHINGTON — House Republicans filed a long-threatened lawsuit Friday against the Obama administration over unilateral actions on the health care law that they say are abuses of the president’s executive authority.

The lawsuit — filed against the secretaries of the Health and Human Services and Treasury Departments — focuses on two crucial aspects of the way the administration has put the Affordable Care Act into effect.

The suit accuses the Obama administration of unlawfully postponing a requirement that larger employers offer health coverage to their full-time employees or pay penalties. (Larger companies are defined as those with 50 or more employees.)

In July 2013, the administration deferred that requirement until 2015. Seven months later, the administration announced a further delay, until 2016, for employers with 50 to 99 employees.

[…] The lawsuit came a day after Mr. Obama outlined his plan to unilaterally move forward on an immigration overhaul, allowing as many as five million undocumented immigrants to live and work in the United States without threat of deportation. House Republicans call it “executive amnesty” and had threatened either to add an immigration component to the lawsuit filed on Friday, which addresses only the Affordable Care Act, or began a separate legal action.

“We should totally just STAB CAESAR!” It’s okay, Lindsey, calm down.

  1. I need to talk to you regarding a copyright infringement on your website. I have already sent you an email and there was no response.

    Many thanks

  2. The Capitalist Republicans will leave no stone unturned to get the largest profits possible into the pockets of their campaign donors the for-profit health insurance companies. The ACA is a Capitalists wet dream. People are forced to buy health insurance. Ka-ching. The federal government subsidies the health insurance that people buy. Ka-ching. Big business stops offering health insurance to their employees. Ka-ching. The insurance companies get to decide what doctors can charge for any service. Ka-ching. What a racket. Medicare for all.

  3. As Turley well knows, for any court to adjudicate a claim in which the aggrieved party is the lawmaker, it would have to overturn two decades of established standing rules.
