I had dinner with friends this weekend, and we were talking about how many white people are convinced there is a whole secret world of goodies out there for the people on welfare and food stamps. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met who tell me emphatically that illegal immigrants get grants to start their own businesses, that black people on welfare get a lot of money, and other crazy fantasies.
