  1. Well. It would be useful for a number of reconstructive surgery applications. Sphincters are all over the place, such as your eye muscles, your mouth, at the top and bottom of the esophagus (hiatal hernia), they pinch off the ureter (prostate surgery, bladder cancer), they’re at the opening of the vagina. If you have a damaged/diseased/removed sphincter at any of those places, there’s no way to put it back as far as I know. . .
